Liverpool are one of only four clubs who could get Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this summer, with a stay at the German club more likely.

Sport BILD report that the winger’s asking price continues to rise, pushing most clubs around the world out of the picture in the process.

World Cup transfer danger

The newspaper covers the World Cup and how that ‘threatens’ Leipzig’s squad plans moving forwards.

The German side are already well advanced in their planning for next season. But a strong performance at the tournament from some of their stars could throw everything into disarray.

Chief among those is Yan Dioande. The 19-year-old is the breakout star of this season and has suitors around Europe. He, though, has signalled his interest in staying in Leipzig for another year.

The plan would be to keep the Ivorian, offer him a contract extension with a substantial pay raise, then likely sell him next summer.

“RB Leipzig has helped my family a lot,” he said recently.

“They’ve done a lot for me. I’m grateful. I can give that back by helping on the pitch. I’m not in a hurry to leave the club.

“What happens next will be decided later this summer. The World Cup is coming up, and after that, you never know what might happen.”

€150m asking price

Leipzig haven’t set a minimum price limit internally for a transfer, but the winger is not unsellable. While the figure was once reported at €100m, it is likely to be close to €150m in reality.

A strong performance at the World Cup makes that more realistic. But it also means there’s only a select few clubs who could do such a deal. None have expressed concrete interest yet.

But Jose Mourinho reportedly wants the youngster as a replacement for Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are one of ‘very few’ that can combine a mega transfer fee, top level sporting quality and a prestigious name.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the other three according to SportBILD. The Reds have been interested in Diomande for months, particularly with Mohamed Salah departing.

Sport Witness covered a report last month stating that talks had already been held over a potential transfer.

Now, it seems they’re one of a handful who can actually get the deal done. The question is whether they will, particularly at €150m. In Leipzig, it seems they’re confident that they won’t.
