Leeds United are preparing a €20m offer for Sevilla winger Rubén Vargas in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Orgullo Biri and Fichajes, who both cover the situation today. They both state Leeds United are preparing a bid for the Swiss winger.

First Orgullo Biri. They report that Leeds are preparing a €20m offer for Vargas. This presents a ‘new challenge’ for Sevilla, who will have to battle to keep their star man.

Vargas as been impressing since joining in a €2.5m deal from FC Augsburg. He’s established himself as an undisputed starter, contributing speed, dribbling skills and goals. This has reportedly not gone unnoticed by Premier League teams, who consider him an ‘ideal fit.’

Leeds are one of them and seemingly ready to make a bid. Sevilla are open to a deal, with a source at the club insisting that they have to evaluate all options amid their current financial issues.

Leeds United can negotiate beneficial deal

Fichajes say much the same. They say that Leeds are preparing an offer close to €20m for the winger. According to them, the bid would be €9m and include performance-based bonuses to more than doble the fee.

They say that Vargas is set to be one of the ‘biggest names’ on the January transfer window thanks to his performances. The belief is tat Leeds United are keen because Vargas represents a ‘profile that is scarce’ in England. That is someone with dribbling ability, speed and final product in the final third.

At 27, he is in his prime and Sevilla know that now could be the time to cash in. They’re happy to sell if a deal can help them to generate income. Leeds can also convince the player by offering him ‘immediate prominence’.

He’s ready for the next step in his career and Leeds are seemingly preparing to make an offer in January.
