An Everton and AS Roma exchange of strikers, Beto and Artem Dovbyk, may be an idea for the January transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Matteo Moretto. He speculates it’s an idea to be considered as Roma look for a striker in the January transfer window.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have been beset by striker problems this season. The loan signing of Evan Ferguson from Brighton in the summer transfer window has not worked out as expected.
Gasperini appears to be keen for them to enter the market in January to solve the issue. Talks over Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee are ongoing, but another named linked is Everton striker Beto.
Moretto now reports that ‘Beto-Dovbyk’ could be a potential option for Everton and Roma ahead of the window. The idea, at least, seems to be a potential swap deal between the two Friedkin owned clubs.
The journalist does point out, though, that the Ukrainian striker’s interest in the move remains to be seen. The implication is that he doesn’t fancy it or would perhaps need to be talked into it.
Forza Roma also point out that any such deal would hardly be a ‘dry exchange’. In other words, Everton and Roma wouldn’t just be able to do a straight swap. Their belief is that the two players have a ‘different market value’. They also say the fact that Dovbyk’s contract at Roma runs until 2029 would be an issue.
Still, it appears to be an idea that may be floated and can be facilitated by the shared ownership between Everton and Roma.
