Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Antonín Kinský is determined to stay and fight for his place under Roberto De Zerbi.
Roberto De Zerbi’s predecessor Igor Tudor handed the 23-year-old his Champions League debut against Atlético Madrid in March.
Tudor replaced the stopper after 17 minutes, with Tottenham 3-0 down, and they eventually lost the tie 5-2.
In March, Sport Witness covered claims from the Czech Republic that he wouldn’t feature again for the Premier League side. His plan was to take advantage of his clause to leave this summer.
Since then, De Zerbi arrived and Guglielmo Vicario underwent hernia surgery. The coach relied upon the Czech, who was a backup for Italian, for the final two months of the season.
Over the past few months, claims from Italy have stated Vicario will return to Serie A this summer.
The north London club have signed Martin Dúbravka while the English press reports Spurs have opened talks with Kinský over a new deal. The two would compete next season.
Tottenham stopper feels like No.1
Czech Republic’s Olympijsky Tym have covered comments from Antonín Kinský on a few topics, including his plans for the future.
When asked about the new competition from Martin Dúbravka, the Czech stopper said talks are ongoing with Tottenham Hotspur to sort out his future.
“It’s a challenge; I’ll be fighting for a spot during preseason. Negotiations are underway with the club about what the future might hold. I’m interested in staying and fighting for my place because the English league is great,” he said.
“Whether I’ll be the starter or the backup is something the coach will decide. In my mind, I’ve always been the No.1, even when I was on the bench. I’ll take the same approach now, and I believe it’ll work out.”
How Tottenham player is preparing for next season
Antonín Kinský is working with a fitness coach during the summer break.
“My girlfriend and I spent four days on vacation in Corfu, Greece. Nice weather, beautiful sea, great food. I really enjoyed it because it was my first vacation in seven years,” Kinský explained.
“But now it’s back to focusing on football. I’m working with my fitness coach to get ready for the next season so I’ll be as prepared as possible, so I can reach my goals.”
