Gilberto Mora is a name you’ll be hearing plenty about in the near future, particularly with Arsenal and Liverpool chasing his signature.
The 17-year-old Mexican is one of world football’s rising talents, and the big clubs are starting to take notice.
Sport Witness reported earlier this summer how Arsenal and Liverpool were planning bids. Liverpool have since stepped ahead of the Gunners, tabling an offer via the player’s agent with it explained this week that a potential deal was progressing quickly.
That’s even led to a response from his agent, as he tried to clear up reports about a potential announcement on October 14th.
Big move pending
While it remains to be seen if there is anything concrete – with Arsenal or Liverpool – it is clear that Mora is destined for a big move before too long.
Whether that’s to the Premier League, remains to be seen. But Raúl Jiménez is convinced that he’s good enough to play anywhere.
“He has what it takes to play anywhere,” he told Claro Sports.
“But he could also take it step by step, gradually, just as has happened with many players. They go to slightly smaller leagues and then make the leap, like Argentines and Brazilians who are signed by Dutch or Portuguese teams.
“Well, given his quality and his future, I think he could do well if he starts out in a top league.”
Spain or Germany
The Wolves striker isn’t going to be advising his international teammate to jump straight to the Premier League, though.
He would instead prefer to see him heading to Germany or Spain to continue his development step by step. And he even has a suggestion of the best club for him.
“Where would I like to see him? Germany could work, Borussia Dortmund, perhaps… it fits his style,” he added.
“Or Spain, where the league is a bit more technical and, at times, not as physical. I think he could adapt well there.”
