Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey has been on loan AS Roma in the first half of this season. There was a lot of excitement over his arrival.

The Jamaica international failed to impress in the Italian capital. He struggled with multiple injuries limiting the winger to two assists from 317 minutes from 11 matches.

Roma have decided to cut short his loan stay in the winter market. Two days ago, claims from Italy said he’s on his way back to Aston Villa. The player was potted at an airport in Rome on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Unai Emery convinced him to leave Roma and return to Villa Park. He may leave the Premier League side again in this window.

Ajax have emerged as an option. De Telegraaf now cover the latest on their desire to sign the Aston Villa player.

Aston Villa face Fenerbahçe in the Europa League later today. The timing of the fixture in Turkey clearly suits the Dutch club.

De Telegraaf report Ajax sporting director Marijn Beuker’s ‘lightning visit’ to Istanbul.  They posted a picture of the Eredivisie side’s official at Istanbul airport.

Transfer blitz involves Aston Villa

Beuker’s transfer blitz is to hold talks to sign the 28-year-old and a new No.6. Several sources close to the Amsterdam club have informed the newspaper that the director’s trip to Turkey is to get players ‘excited about a transfer’.

Bailey is unlikely to have travelled with Aston Villa to Istanbul. Therefore, Beuker can hold direct talks only with Emery’s side, and probably contact Bailey via a call.

Ajax seem to be keen on bringing the Aston Villa attacker to the Netherlands on loan. The player and the Premier League side’s stance on a fresh loan isn’t made clear in the report.
