This week, the UK press has confidently spoken of Aston Villa interest in AC Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Since they expect Boubacar Kamara to be out for a while, the Villans see the Englishman as a midfield replacement.

This isn’t the first time outlets have linked Loftus-Cheek with a move to England. Nottingham Forest were mentioned as suitors last year, and even Manchester United have been thrown into recent chatter.

Now, the Italian press is also going after Aston Villa’s interest in the Englishman.

The story finds mention in today’s Corriere dello Sport. The newspaper claim that the idea of playing at the World Cup appeals to the 29-year-old. A move back to England will help him impress Thomas Tuchel more than him continuing to play at Milan.

It is noted that Aston Villa haven’t made a formal offer for Loftus-Cheek, who is valued at €15m for the Rossoneri.

While that price could make a move easy for Unai Emery’s side, TuttoSport make a deal sound difficult.

They are confident that Loftus-Cheek is not big on leaving the Rossoneri in January. Even if he wants to play at the World Cup, he is happy at Milan and has no intention of departing. So much so that his entourage has already started negotiating a new contract with the Italian giants.

Aston Villa transfer questioned

There is a feeling that a move to Aston Villa will not go through this month unless a ‘significant offer’ arrives.

Beyond that, Loftus-Cheek has an excellent relationship with Massimilliano Allegri. The Italian has brought the best out of the former Chelsea man, using him in an advanced role. He is likely to block an exit, especially since it is difficult to find a replacement who adapts to Allegri’s side quickly.

The two newspapers clearly offer differing information about the midfielder. But Allegri played a key role in keeping Mike Maignan at Milan in the summer. He can throw a spanner in the works for Aston Villa, whose task is far from easy.
