Sevilla aim to sell Lucien Agoumé to Manchester United in June to improve their finances.

Last summer, Sport Witness relayed news of Manchester United wanting the defensive midfielder but made no further advances.

Earlier in the season, there were claims of Arsenal wanting to make a move for the 24-year-old this summer. However, there’s been no recent claims of their desire to sign him.

He initially joined the La Liga side on loan from Inter Milan in January 2024 and Sevilla exercised the clause to buy him later that year.

Agoumé played 2,805 minutes from 36 matches this season. His league stats per game are as follows:

  • Appearances: 34
  • Starts: 31
  • Minutes per game: 79
  • Interceptions: 1.4
  • Tackles: 2.1
  • Possession won (final third): 0.3
  • Recoveries: 4.1
  • Clearances: 1.2
  • Duels won: 4.4

Sevilla pushing player towards Manchester United

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC say it’s their own information on Lucien Agoumé and explain why the La Liga side proposed him to the Red Devils.

Former defender Sergio Ramos’ attempt to takeover Sevilla didn’t go through, forcing the current management to take action. The Andalusian club have to raise funds to balance their books before June 30th.

The Sevilla board formally offer Agoumé to Michael Carrick’s side and have set a €25m price.

They also inform Manchester United that several unnamed clubs are keen and the player’s profile is highly valued in the Premier League.

Navarro is confident the English club have the financial muscle to meet their request.

The official’s intention is to ‘finalise the terms of the French midfielder’s sale’ before June 30th.Agoumé can be an option for the Old Trafford club but there are several factors holding them back.

His poor finish to this season is the first reason. Manchester United scouts have doubts whether he has the physicality needed for the Premier League and this is the second one.

Our take: Manchester United unlikely to bite

The Red Devils are presented an opportunity for to take advantage of Sevilla’s difficult situation and sign Lucien Agoumé. However, that’s unlikely to happen due to doubts that he could suit them.

In addition to this, the English club are prioritising other midfielder targets over the ex-Inter Milan man.

Sevilla directly offered him to Manchester United, but the latter are unlikely to acquire his signature.
