West Ham United‘s Manor Solomon remains doubtful for Israel’s UEFA Nations League clash against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday because of back pain.

In the summer, the winger ended his time at Tottenham Hotspur and joined West Ham permanently.

He missed fixtures with Israel last November and one match in March because of different injuries. During this international break, the 27-year-old started three matches.

Manager Ran Ben-Shimon replaced him after 73 minutes against Austria while Solomon played the full 90 minutes in the other two matches. There were no reports, at least in the Israeli media, of any fitness concern.

Decision about West Ham man on Saturday

Ahead of Sunday’s clash, Sport1 Maariv looks at encouraging news and fitness concerns over some of the Israel players.

There are three players ‘still questionable’ to face the Republic of Ireland in Serbia and the West Ham United man is among them. He has been suffering from a back problem and there’s no explanation on how he suffered this blow.

The outlet states the former Fiorentina man will carry out another test. The result will give Ran Ben-Shimon more clarity on whether he can train with the group on Saturday.

This indicates Manor Solomon has already undergone an examination and will carry out a new one.

Israel’s clash against the Republic of Ireland will take place in Bačka Topola, Serbia. The national team travelled to Serbia on Friday, and iSport states the Hammers player has made this trip.

There’s belief he can be available for selection on Sunday, and Ben-Shimon and Israel’s medical staff would only decide after evaluating the test results.

West Ham to keep close watch

In August, Sport Witness relayed news Manor Solomon had rejected top division clubs to join the Championship side. The move has worked out well for both parties so far.

He has two goals and two assists from eight league matches for West Ham United this season. Nuno Espírito Santo’s side will monitor the attacker’s situation and will get regular updates from Israel’s medical staff about his back pain.

After the international break, the London club will host Queens Park Rangers on October 9th.
