Como manager Cesc Fabregas has calmed reports about Leeds United’s interest in Martin Baturina, for now.
Tuttomercatoweb cover comments from the Como manager today. He was asked about Leeds in his press conference ahead of Como’s clash against AC Milan.
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Baturina again. A report in Italy today stated that they have been making enquiries about the Croatian midfielder.
He’s a long-term target for them. Leeds were first linked back in 2024 and there was even talk of a €30m bid at the time. He eventually joined Como last summer but has struggled since. Nico Paz has placed himself ahead of him in the pecking order, and so far, Baturina hasn’t managed to overtake him.
That situation has potentially opened the door for him to leave this month. The suggestion has been that Baturina may look for a move, rather than Como seeking to get rid. Indeed, last month it was insisted that the Italian side still believed in the player long-term.
Either way, Leeds United have been making enquiries. That led journalists to ask Como manager Cesc Fabregas about a potential move. He responded by calming the idea for now.
Cesc Fabregas dodges Leeds United question
“Right now, there’s nothing. On both sides. I see the team isn’t giving up, they’re on board,” he said.
“We have to play tomorrow, we never stop. My goal and focus is to get the lads going.”
Of course, that doesn’t mean a move isn’t on the cards for Baturina this month. The fact Leeds are making enquiries certainly suggests that they think a transfer is possible.
Baturina has been on their list for a while, and it seems they feel now might be a good tie to try again. A loan deal until the end of the season would certainly not be surprising and perhaps suit all the parties perfectly. For now, though, it appears that their efforts are nothing more than asking the question.
