Brighton and Hove Albion are set to get €25m from Brajan Gruda next summer, but they might be regretting that particular figure after watching him in the Champions League this week.

RB Leipzig beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 on Tuesday evening. Grude was the solitary goalscorer for the German side, with a striker in the 75th minute.

But that’s not the reason they’ll be regretting selling on the cheap. That regret will come if they were watching the performance overall.

While he was the only goalscorer in the game, he also produced a moment of brilliance that earned him comparisons to Lamine Yamal.

Yamal-esque

You’ve probably seen the Barcelona player’s bit of brilliance in the 4-1 win over Galatasaray this week. but Gruda had a moment equally as good. In fact, it had Foot Mercato purring.

They shared a video of the moment of skill from the Brighton loanee, labelling it an ‘insane sequence’ before then questioning if it was ‘more spectacular’ than Yamal’s masterclass.

We’ll leave that up to you to decide. We would say that players who being compared to Lamine Yamal tend to go for fees a lot higher than €25m. But that’s what Gruda will be leaving Brighton for next summer.

Brighton regret?

Sport Witness reported on the transfer back in July. He returned to Leipzig on loan in the summer after a loan spell there last season.

RB Live report that the deal includes a ‘low-threshold mandatory purchase clause’ that takes effect after just a few matches in the first and second half of the season.

Basically, Gruda only has to play in around a dozen games for the German side and then the purchase clause will kick in. Leipzig will pay around Leipzig will pay around €25m plus a loan fee for the 22-year-old.

That’s a figure they’ll likely consider a bargain at this point, particularly if he continues to produce moments of magic like Yamal in the coming months.
