AC Milan have Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Yasin Ayari and AFC Bournemouth‘s Alex Scott as the two targets on their list to improve their midfield in 2027.

The Rossoneri are looking for recruits, including in the Premier League, where the Brighton and Bournemouth players are on their agenda.

Luka Modrić, who turned 41 years of age in September, is in his final year of contract. The Serie A side are already working on replacing him, which has led them to Ayari and Scott.

The 23-year-old joined the Cherries from Bristol City in 2023 and has played 95 matches so far.

Meanwhile, Brighton signed Ayari from AIK Fotboll in January 2023 and sent him on loan for the first 18 months. He only cemented a place after Fabian Hürzeler took charge in June 2024.

Brighton star ahead of Bournemouth man

Calciomercato have a report covering the latest about the Serie A side’s interest in both the 23-year-old Sweden international and AFC Bournemouth star Alex Scott.

The newly capped England international is leading AC Milan’s midfield target list, ahead of the Brighton & Hove Albion player. The latest from the UK stated Marco Rose’s side would demand around £60-70m [€70.8-€82.6m].

This puts Scott beyond the Italian club’s reach, and Yasin Ayari appears as an alternative. Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered a report from Italy explaining that Milan are scouting Yasin Ayari over the last two years.

In the summer window, AS Roma explored a deal but backed out after the Seagulls’ €45m price was the big obstacle.

Why Milan’s confidence is not justified

The Swede has been a regular for Brighton & Hove Albion and his country this season. He has a goal from seven matches for the Seagulls. Ruben Amorim’s side have been closely following him in recent weeks.

Yasin Ayari is in his final year of contract at The Amex. AC Milan believe this put them in a good position to secure his services for free next summer if the Seagulls don’t agree a new contract.

In that case, the outlet insists Fabian Hürzeler’s side face a tough task to hold on to him.

Calciomercato haven’t taken into account that Brighton have an option to extend Ayari’s contract for another year. Last month, the player said there’s been no talks with the club and is unsure whether it’ll be renewed.

Therefore, Milan’s confidence of having the possibility to sign the midfielder for free next summer isn’t justified.
