Brentford’s interest in Bassco Soyer appears to have moved into a more defined stage. Reports from Peru now claim the Premier League club are one of three concrete options the youngster is considering ahead of the new season.

We covered reports from Portugal last month that Brentford were looking at the 19-year-old as part of the strategic partnership established with Gil Vicente in 2025.

At the time, the suggestion was that the Bees were assessing whether to bring the Peruvian into their development structure.

Now, Peruvian journalist Gerson Cuba has provided further detail. He claims a loan move to Brentford is one of the scenarios currently on the table.

Brentford loan under consideration

According to Gerson Cuba, Bassco Soyer’s future has not yet been decided. This is despite the winger already taking part in pre-season with Gil Vicente’s first-team squad.

The journalist explains there are currently three realistic possibilities for the youngster.

The first is remaining at Gil Vicente and attempting to convince the club’s new manager that he deserves a place in the senior squad. This comes after spending last season with the U23s.

The second is a loan switch to Brentford, with the Premier League side continuing to monitor his development through the relationship between the two clubs.

The third option would see Soyer move to an unnamed club in the Middle East. This alternative is also being considered by those around the player.

Cuba adds that a decision is expected over the coming weeks.

First-team opportunity or another step?

Bassco Soyer enjoyed an impressive first campaign in Portugal after joining Gil Vicente from Alianza Lima in 2025.

Although he did not make a senior appearance, he stood out for the club’s U23 side, registering 12 goals and one assist in 33 matches. Those performances also helped him earn a senior Peru cap. He even marked that appearance with a goal.

The fact he is now training with Gil Vicente’s first team suggests the Portuguese club have not ruled out keeping him in their senior plans. Even so, Brentford continue to watch developments closely.

The report also notes that Alianza Lima retain 35% of the player’s economic rights. Therefore, any future transfer, whether to England, elsewhere in Portugal or the Middle East, would generate a financial return for the Peruvian club.

For Brentford, the latest update offers greater clarity than previous reports. More than monitoring a promising youngster, the Bees are now said to be discussing a specific loan route. Soyer is expected to decide his next step before long.
