Jamie Bynoe-Gittens joined Chelsea after having an impressive spell at Borussia Dortmund. The stint hasn’t gone in the right direction and an exit can go through in January.
AS Roma were keen on the winger in the summer. A deal involving Manu Kone could have also materialised late in the window but Gian Piero Gasperini vetoed the transfer entirely.
This hasn’t helped the attacker, who appears to be out of Xabi Alonso’s plans. This was also the case last season, when he played less than 500 minutes in the Premier League.
The instability at Chelsea clearly hasn’t helped Bynoe-Gittens, who can now leave in the winter.
Roma still keen
RomaGiallorossa report that the 22-year-old is still well liked by the Italian giants. They wanted an attacker late in the window but failed. They still have that objective and will look to land a player in that role in January.
They continue to monitor the Chelsea outcast, noting how Alonso isn’t a fan of his profile. That is why Bynoe-Gittens has played just 55 minutes in the league this season. The outlet believe this can lead to the player’s entourage seeking a new club.
Roma want to take advantage of this, as the winger wanted the move in the summer. His demands are unlikely to change but the Blues could be more flexible now.
The report is optimistic Chelsea can accept an initial loan with an option to buy. This wasn’t true in the summer, when they wanted to include him in the deal for Kone.
Roma now aim to agree personal terms with Bynoe-Gittens before holding discussions with the London club.
Player should push for transfer
Bynoe-Gittens was one of the most promising English attackers during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Because of the decision to join Chelsea, that promise has faded away.
The attacker is still quite young and needs to take control over his career. Gasperini has an excellent track record of improving attackers and Bynoe-Gittens should take this with both hands.
He should push for a transfer and help Roma sign him in January.
