Standard Liège’s Thomas Henry has revealed Leicester City blocked his move to Swansea City.

The striker has been speaking to Circus Daily and Walfoot have covered his comments on his failed move to Swansea City.

Henry has pinned the blame on Leicester City sporting director Jon Rudkin for not letting him join the Swans.

The Frenchman spent two seasons at OH Leuven between 2019 and 2021. The Belgian club are owned by Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, who also own the Foxes.

In June 2021, we covered claims from Belgium of Swansea City’s concrete interest in the frontman. He’s now revealed that an agreement was in place between him and the Welsh club.

The 31-year-old further explained that Swansea City tabled two offers to Leuven. Although he was linked to the Belgian club at that time, Rudkin was carrying out the negotiations.

Henry scored 21 goals and contributed seven assists from 33 matches for Leuven during the 2020/21 season. This partly played a role in his failed move to Swansea City.

He pleaded with Rudkin but was barred from joining Swansea City, and ended up moving to Venezia in August 2021.

“I had agreed to go to Swansea. The coach at the time called me in March; it all happened very early. The problem was, I had scored 21 goals. I had increased my market value,” he said.

“It wasn’t Leuven who handled the transfer; it was John Rudkin, Leicester’s sporting director The transfer didn’t go through. Swansea made two offers, I begged Rudkin to accept, but it didn’t happen, Swansea withdrew from negotiations.”
