Three days ago, Record reported Sporting have made important developments in their pursuit of West Ham United’s Luís Guilherme.

On Christmas Eve, Maisfutebol reported the Lions have held talks with West Ham over a move for the 19-year-old in the winter market.

A Bola now state Sporting are making progress and are optimistic of finding an agreement with West Ham.

The winger has played 121 minutes from five matches this season, without a goal or an assist. He hasn’t featured this month and played two matches since September.

It’s claimed the Brazilian is convinced he should leave the Hammers and has already shown ‘total openness’ to join Sporting in January. It’s now down to the two clubs to agree terms and it may not be straight forward.

West Ham reportedly invested €23m to sign him from Palmeiras in 2024. Guilherme is yet to shine, but the Premier League side believe in his potential.

Therefore, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are only willing to let him leave on loan without a purchase clause. This will allow him to get more minutes and improve his valuation in the process. The Portuguese club have ‘promptly rejected’ this formula.

Sporting want to buy or sign the attacker on loan with a mandatory purchase obligation. They are willing to spend €15-18m on the Brazilian.

A Bola claims Sporting believe they can overcome the obstacle to sign Guilherme on their terms. This would only be possible if they convince West Ham to change their stance.
