Brian Brobbey’s agent has now confirmed the Ajax striker is London after reports West Ham United have made a bid for him.

Viaplay cover the situation around the forward today after West Ham made a bid to sign him on loan on Friday evening.

They have reportedly been in contact with the striker’s entourage to make it clear they are keen on him and willing to offer €100,000 a week in wages should he move to the London Stadium.

It was then explained that Ajax would prefer a permanent sale worth €30m with €5m in add-ons, something West Ham are unable to offer because of PSR limitations.

A deal is being negotiated but in the meantime a report this morning stated Brobbey had travelled to London. That report stated his agent had refused to comment on the matter.

However, according to Viaplay, his agent has now confirmed the trip to London, something analyst Frank de Boer does not believe is coincidental.

“Rumour has it that Brian Brobbey could go there (the Premier League). His agent José Fortes Rodríguez confirmed that Brobbey is in London at the moment. Could that be a coincidence, Frank? They are free for a few days,” the host of the show asked the Dutchman.

“No, that’s not a coincidence. So, there’s really something going on there. It’s not that you’re going to look for the sun in London,” De Boer replied.

The conversation then turned to whether the move would be a smart one for West Ham to make given the values involved.

The 22-year-old has not had a good season for Ajax to date, with just three goals in 29 games in all competitions. He does have seven assists to his name also.

Those are not impressive numbers, to say the least, especially when a deal could end up costing West Ham as much as €35m.

Such a move has already been described as ‘ridiculous’ by analyst Johan Derksen, and it seems De Boer is in the same mindset.

“I think it’s incredible. If you can only score one goal in the Eredivisie, I think that’s very, very moderate,” he added.

“I honestly have very big question marks. If you can’t do that in the Eredivisie. We’re talking about the Eredivisie. It’s such a big difference between the Premier League or Eredivisie.

“How often have we not seen top scorers who score 40 goals and then never heard of him again because they went to the Premier League or something. In my opinion, he (Brobbey) did well for one year. But for the rest, at the moment, I only see him lying on the ground.”
