Arsenal face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, in what will be one of the most anticipated matches of this round of the competition.

The Premier League and Bundesliga champions are considered two of the best teams in Europe this season and both will have their minds set on winning the trophy.

A decisive victory for either side in this week’s match would send out a message, and push the victor up among the levels of PSG and Barcelona when it comes to the favourites.

Bayern Munich are facing a problem in that regard. A virus.

Vincent Kompany is off work ill and Tuesday’s print edition of Bild makes it very clear that the situation is being taken seriously.

Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig 6-1 on Saturday. Vincent Kompany was able to take charge for that match, however, he wasn’t well at that point.

As explained by Bild, he had to lie down both at half time and following the resounding victory.

‘According to BILD, the Belgian underwent another thorough examination on Monday by the team doctors, including team physician Prof. Dr. Roland Schmidt. Internally, the illness is not being taken lightly, as Kompany was clearly feeling unwell around the time of the resounding victory against Leipzig.

‘Although he delivered the team talks in the locker room, he had to lie down briefly on his sofa in his coach’s room at the Allianz Arena both at halftime and after the win.’

Of course, his close proximity to the players and other coaches is a cause for concern.

Aaron Danks, Floribert N’Galula, René Maric, and Daniel Fradley have taken team training on Tuesday, withKompany at home. Danks will be also be taking the pre-match press conference, where he’ll be accompanied by former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry.
