Victor Muñoz is loving life at Liverpool. And he knows who he has to thank for it as well, Andoni Iraola.
The Spaniard made the move to Liverpool this summer, joining from Osasuna in a €40m deal after emerging as one of Spain’s big up and coming talents last season.
A €40m price tag means big expectations but, he has lived up to them so far. He’s already a Premier League regular, with seven appearances under his belt alongside two goals and one assist.
And he’s also featured in the Champions League, playing in both of Liverpool’s games so far in that competition. He’s also likely to feature against Villarreal on Tuesday evening.
Iraola faith has helped
The quick adaptation to life in England has been thanks to Reds boss Iraola. He’s shown no hesitation with the 23-year-old, throwing him in from the start. That faith is something he’s already been rewarded for.
Muñoz is more than aware of the faith being shown. And he’s more than grateful for it too.
“I always try to help the team when I’m on the pitch, to give my all for this shirt,” he told AS for their Tuesday print edition.
“The truth is that (Iraola) is helping me a lot, explaining what the team needs and what I can contribute. I feel really good in that regard.
“Wherever I play, I’ll give everything for the team, regardless of the position. I feel great; I’m very happy.”

Position change not a problem
That latter part regarding position will certainly be music to Iraola’s ears given he’s been forced to use Muñoz out of position so far.
The youngster arrived at Anfield as a left-winger but has found his time split equally between left and right-wing so far. Fortunately, it does not appear to have affected him.
With Bradley Barcola, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha all competing on the left anyway, perhaps it is best for the Spaniard to stay out of hat particular battle anyway. If he keeps performing as he has, he may not get the choice.
