Fiorentina will hold a percentage of a future sale on Michael Kayode should Brentford make his loan spell permanent in the summer.

That’s according to his agent, Andrea Ritorni, who has speaking to Radio Bruno, via Fiorentina Uno, about his client’s move to Brentford this week.

Kayode has joined the Bees on loan until the end of the season, with the deal including an option for Thomas Frank’s side to make it permanent.

It’s the right-back’s first move outside of Italy, where he has previously played in Juventus’ youth ranks before joining AC Gozzano and then Fiorentina’s youth side in 2021.

He moved his way up the ranks from that point onward, making it into the first team in 2023 and going on to make 49 appearances in all competitions for them.

He has found himself out of the side this season, though, making just 12 appearances totalling 562 minutes. It is that which has opened up his move to Brentford, who snapped him up quickly on loan and will have the option to buy him permanently in the summer.

That deal will include a future percentage of a sale for Fiorentina according to Ritorni, who admits his client has headed to the Premier League with some sadness.

“Michael said goodbye to everyone with a bit of sadness in the last few days,” he said.

“Fiorentina took him from the D, raised him up to Serie A and the national team, and now he is taking the next step towards the Premier League. It is an important change, but it is a natural phase in a footballer’s career. Kayode is very attached to Fiorentina and the city of Florence.

“Michael never left Fiorentina badly, on the contrary, he left without making any noise, but with great respect for the club that gave him so much

“I don’t know if he will ever return to Fiorentina, I can’t predict it. At the moment, he is at Brentford on loan, with an option to buy and a percentage of the future resale. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to English football, which I think is perfect for him thanks to his qualities and mentality.”
