With the Premier League picking up pace, the managerial sack race is starting to develop as well. And it seems they’re particularly interested in that in the Netherlands.

They have two high profile names currently out of work, waiting to see what comes their way – Robin van Persie and Arne Slot.

The former was dismissed by Feyenoord earlier this year and is determined not to return until 2027. Slot, meanwhile, is out of work after leaving Liverpool in the summer.

As a Premier League winner, he is unlikely to be short of options. Reports have already linked him with a potential move to Tottenham in recent weeks.

Van Persie to Nottingham Forest

De Telegraaf cover both Dutch managers today. First up is Feyenoord observer Marcel van de Kraan. He believes that Nottingham Forest, where Oliver Glasner is feeling the pressure at present, could be an option.

“In the Premier League, the manager of Nottingham Forest is already on shaky ground,” he said.

“Greek billionaire Evangelos Marinakis, who has little patience for coaches, is furious that his club is second-to-bottom in the Premier League.

“Joining a struggling club in the middle of the season, even with a multi-million-pound salary, is often a recipe for disaster. That is why Van Persie will likely make a very careful, well-considered decision when he decides to return to work.

“Van Persie certainly hasn’t lacked interest; back in the middle of the summer, clubs from major European leagues were already lining up for him.”

Slot, meanwhile, is likely to be looking higher up than his compatriot. The newspaper again brings up Tottenham.

“Slot fills his spare time with a role as a technical observer at UEFA, allowing him to cleverly watch numerous top clubs at work for months at a time, study playing systems, and assess players,” Van der Kraan clarified.

“But it is certain that he will return to a major European club in 2027.”

The newspaper then adds that agent Rafaela Pimenta is in regular contact with clubs interested in Europe. She also, interestingly, represents former Tottenham manager Martin Jol.
