Donny van de Beek didn’t get a minute for Manchester United are they drew 0-0 with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The midfielder has been an unused substitute for the past five Premier League matches, with his last appearance in the competition coming on December 20th against Leeds United.
Since then he’s played against Everton in the EFL Cup, and had a very short appearance against Manchester City in the same competition. The Dutchman also started the FA Cup victory over Watford recently.
All in all, Van de Beek has been given 852 minutes so far this season, spread out over 21 matches. In that time he’s managed to find the back of the net once, against Crystal Palace in September, and contribute an assist against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport, in comments relayed by Dutch website SoccerNews, the Ajax director looked to calm the situation down: “I do talk to more people at the club… Fantastic attitude, he is doing well in training.
“It’s hard. Pogba is coming back, Fernandes is very important, Matic and McTominay, who are there. There’s no shame at all, it’s a big club too, isn’t it? Of course it is a large amount (the transfer fee), but they are confident that he will get there.”
