Over the last few days, Newcastle United have been dominating transfer headlines and it’s likely to continue if the Saudi consortium complete their reported takeover of the Premier League club.
Foot Mercato in France recently reported the Magpies ‘dream’ of signing Real Betis star Nabil Fekir and Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay international will be available on a free transfer in the upcoming window if he decides against signing an extension at the Parc des Princes.
Cavani’s compatriot Darío Silva has urged the 33-year-old to snub Newcastle and join Real Madrid.
“I dream of seeing Cavani at Real Madrid. I hope he doesn’t go to Newcastle,” Silva was quoted as saying by Il Posticipo.
“I think Florentino [Perez] is not interested in the footballer, but I would like to see him wear the white shirt. Cavani is similar to me. He has speed, power and character.”
The former Napoli man has managed to score only seven goals in all competitions and that’s down to limited playing time under Thomas Tuchel this season.
Without European football at St James’ Park and other clubs also interested in the South American, Newcastle will have to offer Cavani lucrative wages in order to tempt him to join them.
