Celtic are keen on signing Hammarby IF’s Sebastian Tounekti this summer, in their efforts to strengthen Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
That’s according to Africa Foot, and they report Celtic have made a first bid of €1m which could rise to €1.2m with bonuses.
It’s claimed Celtic’s proposal shows their desire to make the winger one of their priority targets of this window.
He left Norwegian side FK Haugesund to join Hammarby in February, managing two goals and five assists from 26 games. His contract is until December 2029 and Transfermarkt currently values him at €1.2m.
Africa Foot reports Celtic offer hasn’t pleased the Swedish club as they value him at €2m.
Brendan Rodgers is looking for an attacking reinforcement and the focus seems to be on Tounekti.
Celtic sending an offer for the Tunisia international is also reported by Expressen. They say the Scottish champions offered €3m and are in negotiations with Hammarby.
Although the figure quoted by Expressen is higher than that of Africa Foot, Celtic are unlikely to make progress. That’s because the former report Hammarby want at least €6m to sell the player in this window.
The figure quoted by Expressen is likely to have come from the Swedish club.
Both outlets make no mention of whether the Scottish club plan to return with an improved bid or meet Hammarby’s request to sign Tounekti.
