It appears that Victor Lindelöf isn’t all that happy at Manchester United these days, with Erik ten Hag preferring to partner Raphaël Varane with Lisandro Martínez more often than not.

The Swede has been at Old Trafford for five seasons now, and will have wanted to be a guaranteed first-team regular at this point, which isn’t the case.

The 29-year-old does have 21 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season, but a lot of those have seen him come off the bench.

Now with the Sweden national team for the international break, the centre-back was asked about his current situation with the Red Devils and whether he was ‘frustrated’, and the defender was very candid with his response.

He said, relayed by Fotbollskanalen: “Yes, of course. You want to play every game, but I haven’t done that this season. Of course, you want to play matches, but there haven’t been as many. That’s why I play football, to play matches.

“But right now, I want to focus on the national team and on ending the season well with Manchester United. Then we’ll see what’s best.”

The Manchester United defender was then asked about the recent transfer rumours that were sending him away from Old Trafford, but he made it clear it wasn’t something he was currently thinking about, focusing more on the present than the future at this moment in time.
