Thibaut Courtois had made it clear to Chelsea that he wanted to leave the club in the summer transfer window and his wish was finally granted as he completed a switch to Real Madrid in August.

The Belgium international was replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga and the Blues signed him from Athletic Club Bilbao for €80m, which is the highest ever fee paid for a goalkeeper.

Since joining the Premier League outfit, the Basque custodian has been consistent with his performances so far, which has seen him concede only four goals in the first five matches this season.

Eibar goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, who was a part of Serbia’s World Cup squad, gave an interview to Spanish publication AS. It has been published in today’s edition of the newspaper and he was asked to give his thoughts on the west London club’s decision to invest heavily on the 23-year-old.

“If there is so much money, so many sponsors … those amounts seem very high, but in football they are normal. If a team like Chelsea has paid so much for Kepa, he’s worth it,” the La Liga goalkeeper said.

Dmitrovic’s transfer thinking is interesting as he himself is said to have been the subject of desire from big clubs in the summer window.

A future transfer looks possible soon and AS point out Eibar may lose the player for €20m. That’s his release clause and the club can’t afford to offer him higher wages to increase that figure.

Kepa’s clause was also €20m until he saw it changed to €80m in January.
