Over the course of the January transfer window, only one club in the Premier League made a serious move for Albert Gudmundsson, and that was West Ham United.

It was explained the Hammers had made a move to try and sign the Iceland international from Genoa, who made it clear their plan was to keep their star until the summer.

They managed to hold onto him, but as TuttoMercatoWeb point out, the next transfer window is around the corner, and West Ham are still there.

That’s revealed in an editorial by Niccolo Ceccarini on Monday, who covers the situation of a number of players, including that of Gudmundsson.

The news isn’t very detailed, but it’s definitely to the point, as he makes it clear that West Ham are ‘strongly interested’ in the winger ahead of the summer.

This comes amid talk that Inter Milan also want him and the suggestion that they could include a player like Valentin Carboni into the talks.

The demands in January were of around €30m, which no one met, and with the 26-year-old continuing to impress, with 10 goals and three assists in 26 Serie A appearances, that could go up a bit further between now and the end of the campaign.
