Besiktas face competition from a familiar face as West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is targeting Vincent Aboubakar from FC Porto after the club finally gave up on their pursuit of Carlos Bacca, who has kept them hanging for over a month.

Last week we covered claims from Portugal that West Ham were one of several Premier League clubs interested, with Leicester City and Middlesbrough also named. West Ham interest was also reported last August, so this is something which refuses to go away.

Turkey’s Sporx say West Ham and Besiktas want Aboubakar after Porto signed Laurent Depoitre from Genk and gave him the number 9, which was formerly owned by Aboubakar himself.

It is clear Aboubakar has no future at Porto and Bilic apparently wants him to strengthen the squad.

A move to the Premier League may well be more attractive for Aboubakar, but he’d probably earn similar in either country, because of the more generous Turkey tax system.
