Back in January, we covered reports from Brazil claiming West Ham United had made an offer for Athletico Paranense youngster Vitor Roque.

It was said the Hammers were trying to sign the attacker for €20m, including bonuses, and that was half of the €40m demanded for the player.

It turns out that despite the failed attempt, West Ham are still in talks for the signing, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian outlet features a story claiming that Vitor Roque’s father and agents have been in Europe in the past few days to speak to interested clubs.

As the entourage made a stop in England, they met with West Ham, who are just one of the Premier League sides keen on signing the 18-year-old.

But the Hammers will have to significantly raise their offer to get that signing done, because according to the report, Vitor Roque is expected to move for over €42m.

No bids are on the table for now, but three clubs already said they’re making their offers in the summer. West Ham should expect competition from the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
