As Sporting are rarely linked to an expensive player, the local press makes sure to have daily updates when one of these situations shows up.

This week, we’ve covered the reports about their interest in Efthymios Koulouris. The Lions have made an approach for the player, and the local media claimed that Watford were in the race as well.

Now on Friday, both Record and O Jogo have updates o the rumour. O Jogo actually interviewed one of Koulouris’s teammates to know more about the striker, and once again, recalled that the Hornets are also keen on him.

Record doesn’t mention Watford, but comes up with interesting information. Although O Jogo says PAOK are ‘demanding’ €7.5m for the striker, Record claims he actually has a €7m release clause at the Greek club. They also say Sporting haven’t made a bid yet.

That means his price can’t be raised, and Watford can just get him with no need of negotiation with the Greek side.

Importantly, Koulouris is on loan from PAOK at Atromitos until the end of the season. O Jogo previously said Sporting want him in January, so his contract probably allows a mid-season transfer.

Koulouris has 11 goals for Atromitos this season, and is currently the Greek League’s top scorer with eight.
