If you’re a keen follower of Watford news on Sport Witness (and quite frankly why wouldn’t you be), you’ll know we’ve done a lot about Luís Suárez this year.
The other Suárez has been tearing it up on loan at Real Zaragoza this season, scoring 17 goals in LaLiga2 and earning plenty of praise for his performances.
His displays have not gone unnoticed either, with a new club seemingly joining his list of admirers by the day.
First, the interest was only in Spain from the likes of Atlético Madrid, but it soon developed so that before long Italian sides, namely Lazio and Napoli, were also said to be keeping a close track of things.
The interest in him has steadily grown as the season has progressed to the point that fans were asking the striker about his future when he sat down to do an interview on Instagram Live.
Suárez was open about the situation, admitting that he knew there was interest, but it all depended on what Watford wanted to do with him.
He also admitted he’d love to play for Inter Milan one day, having grown up and watch legendary Brazil striker Ronaldo.
We covered the quotes, which were published by El Periódico de Aragón and, as you can see if you read them, he didn’t mention any names when it came to the interested parties.
That, however, is not true. Those are not the words of the player, but rather El Periódico de Aragón as you can see in the screenshot below.
There is the quote from the Watford striker, which starts with “El Watford quiere que regrese” (“Watford want me to go back”) and ends with “Después ya se verá que se decide” (“After that, you’ll see what’s decided.”)
The next bit which begins with ‘En caso de traspasarlo’ (in case of a transfer) and ends with ‘El interés más importante es el del Atlético, el del Valencia y el de la Lazio en estos momentos’ (The most important interest is that of Atletico, Valencia and Lazio at the moment) is not a direct quote, but information provided by El Periódico de Aragón.
Unfortunately, it seems our English media colleagues have missed the small end quotation mark at the word ‘decide’ thus leading to the mix-up.
Luckily for them, we’re here to help and can confirm the only quotes Suárez provided were that he was aware ‘several teams’ were interested. Nothing more, nothing less.
