Just last week, we covered Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport talking about Napoli’s interest in signing Armando Broja from Chelsea this summer.

Since the Italian side could lose striker Victor Osimhen in the current transfer window, they are already looking for potential replacements, and the Blues’ player shows up as an option.

There is no certainty, however, that Chelsea would like to find a deal, since Thomas Tuchel could also see a striker leaving the squad and may use Broja in the upcoming season.

This rumour has been covered on Radio Kiss Kiss, who had former Albania striker Erjon Bogdani speaking of Napoli’s pursuit for the player. The former footballer pointed out this would be a good move for the Serie A side, even though the Blues must still decide what they’ll do with the 20-year-old.

I’m very pleased with Napoli’s interest in Broja, because we’re talking about an excellent player. He’s a movement number nine, not like Osimhen, he has other characteristics,” Bogdani told Radio Kiss Kiss (via Tutto Napoli).

“We are talking about a young player, 2001, even if Chelsea sent him on loan for two years they’ve always believed in him. This year, he played as a starter for the first year, which is not bad for such a young player. It’s not easy in the Premier League, there are many champions, and he played really well.”

“Many clubs are looking for him, but if Lukaku leaves, Broja will be able to play all his chances at Chelsea. If Napoli takes him they’ll have to safeguard him, being an excellent prospect. In my opinion Napoli are an excellent team, in recent years they’ve always been in the elite of Italian football and also played excellent games in Europe.

“The boy, however, is very excited and awaits the withdrawal with Chelsea, even Tuchel has expressed himself very well about him. He wants to play all his chances to stay at Chelsea. As a football expert I hope Osimhen will stay in Naples to help the team for important goals.”

Broja spent last season on loan at Southampton, where he scored nine goals in 30 appearances. He’s valued by Transfermarkt at €18m.
