Haberturk report Fenerbahce are looking to sign Matz Sels from Newcastle United as they’re in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.

Current No.1 Volkan Demirel is set to sign a new contract with the Turkish giants but given he’s 37-years old they want to bring in another keeper.

Sels spent last season on loan with Belgian side Anderlecht and Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli is looking to get a deal done for the Newcastle United player.

Fernerbahce have previously been linked with a move for David Ospina but Haberturk say Sels is the new target for the Turkish club.

The 26 year old joined Newcastle United at the start of 2016/17 season but now he seems surplus to the requirements at St James’ Park.

Sels has hardly figured under Rafa Benitez and may need to move on this summer. A deal with Anderlecht had been on the cards but the Belgium club only wanted to offer a couple of million Euros.

He played 37 games for Anderlecht last season and is under contract with Newcastle United until 2021.
