Regardless of Gareth Bale’s public comments about seeing himself back at Real Madrid next season, the media around the Spanish club has made it repeatedly clear that Los Blancos don’t want the Welshman back.

They sent him on loan to Tottenham with the hope it would turn into a permanent exit, with either Spurs or another Premier League club picking the player up this summer. That hope seemed to be useless as Bale struggled to impose himself under Jose Mourinho, and it looked unlikely any club would consider taking the plunge.

AS believe things have now changed, with Bale’s situation at Tottenham improving. The 31-year-old’s goal against Southampton and then hat-trick against Sheffield United has made AS optimistic and there’s even the suggestion Real Madrid could get around €10m for their player.

That feels unlikely, and should Tottenham or anyone else look to sign Bale in the coming months it’s almost certain they’d be looking to do so without paying anything at all. The Spanish media have repeatedly made it clear that Bale isn’t keen to give up even a euro of the last year of contract he has at Real Madrid, so to cover that would be more expensive than even the fee mentioned.
