Tottenham have been warned they may need as much as €50m if they ever wish to sign Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

Journalist and Feyenoord watching Martijn Krabbendam has been discussing the striker on Today Inside, relayed by Voetbal 4 U, when the subject of his price tag came up.

Gimenez continues to shine for the Dutch club this season after an impressive campaign that saw him manage 28 goals and three assists in 50 games in all competitions last season.

This year he has nine goals and two assists in seven games in all competitions, meaning he has picked up where he left off and looks set for another big year.

He had already been linked with a move away from the Dutch giants throughout the summer transfer window because of his big numbers, with Tottenham one of those credited with an interest.

We covered reports from Gimenez’s agent at the end of August making it clear that Tottenham were keen, while a report today backed that up and presented them as potential competition for AC Milan.

If that interest is genuine, though, it seems Spurs will have to pay a big sum to get him out of the Netherlands.

“I wouldn’t say €20m,” he said.

“That’s heading towards €40m, €50m. There was already a lot of interest in him last summer. They are trying to make him Feyenoord’s record transfer.”
