Believed to be on his way out when he was close to running down his contract at Tottenham, Hugo Lloris made it clear he still felt he could perform at the highest level by renewing with Spurs until 2024.

The France international remains the number one goalkeeper at the London side under Antonio Conte, and an exit doesn’t appear to be cause for concern for the time being.

That being said, the player is 35 years of age, and there could come a time when a return to France, his home country, could become appealing.

More importantly, the possibility of playing for OGC Nice once more could be particularly enticing, since he was born in the southern city and started his career there.

Well, with rumours in France suggesting that the Ligue 1 side are in talks with Mauricio Pochettino to replace an underperforming Lucien Favre, this could become reality sooner rather than later.

That’s according to Media Foot in France, who claim that in the first talks held by the former Tottenham manager and the French club, there was talk of potential recruits.

They state that ‘more than just a salary’ was discussed, with both the January transfer window and next summer being discussed.

Pochettino is said to ‘have expectations’, and ‘among the first names mentioned, there is that of Hugo Lloris’.

They recall the Frenchman was the Argentine’s number one choice between the sticks when he was in charge at Spurs, and the manager ‘would like a sizeable signing’ in the goalkeeper role, suggesting the recent signing of Kasper Schmeichel was ‘obviously not enough’.

We’ll be honest with you here, this story makes some sense since the player is born in the city and with OGC Nice struggling in goal, the idea of a reunion between Lloris and his ex-manager would surely be considered.

Whether it’s feasible, however, remains to be seen, as we’re sure Daniel Levy, Fabio Paratici, Antonio Conte and pretty much everyone at Tottenham would have something to say about it.
