Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar for the next window, if reports coming out of Italy for the past few weeks are to be believed.

On April 21st, La Repubblica reported Spurs have asked for information about signing the 26-year-old. It was also said an offer from the north London club is expected to arrive in the summer.

Earlier this month, journalist Ciro Venerato mentioned Tottenham’s interest when providing an update on the stopper’s future.

NapoliCalcioLive now state the Premier League side are ‘ready to put’ a €40m offer on the table to take the Italy international away from the Naples club.

Meret’s deal expires in 2024 and the newly crowned Serie A champions retain an option to further extend it by a year.

If Spurs’ €40m bid for Meret were to arrive, the report states it would be ‘too tempting to be refused’, also because Napoli have already lined up his replacement.

Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario has been identified as the potential candidate to replace Meret, if the latter were to be sold in the summer.

The Napoli stopper could provide cover and competition to Hugo Lloris at Tottenham, if he were to arrive in London and the Frenchman continues at Spurs next season.
