Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil returned to Sevilla on a loan deal in January.

Spurs offered money plus Erik Lamela to the La Liga side to sign the winger in 2021. He failed to have prominence in the first few months at the north London club and was sent out on loan to Valencia in January 2022.

The 22-year-old’s displays convinced Los Ches to extend his loan stay last summer but Tottenham blocked the move. This is highlighted by Las Provincias, ahead of Valencia’s league clash against Sevilla at the Mestalla on Sunday.

It’s claimed Tottenham’s decision to stop the Spain international’s loan move to Valencia resulted in the player being kept in a ‘multi-million dollar prison’ at the north London club.

That’s because Gil struggled to get regular game time under Antonio Conte in the first half of this season. Gil was restricted to over 300 minutes of action from 11 matches.

Sevilla took advantage of his situation at Tottenham and rescued him in January. Gil has featured 12 times for them this year, managing a goal and an assist in the process. His decision to return to the Andalusian club has been ‘fruitful’ so far.

Gil, who was the great ‘desire’ of Valencia last summer, will now pose a threat when he faces them this weekend. An irritation for Los Ches.
