Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is working ‘overtime’ to get fit and finally make his debut for loan side Sampdoria.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the midfielder and the club are ‘doing all they can’ to put the midfielder’s slow start to the season behind them.

Over the weekend we covered a report from Italy that explained Winks had arrived at Sampdoria in less than optimal condition, so much so that he had been put on a specially devised training plan so he could get fit and up to speed.

It meant he was yet to make his debut for the club or even train, with just one session in the group under his belt to date.

CM now follow that up and explain Sampdoria are doing everything they can to get Winks fit, with him having being their ‘hit’ in the summer transfer window.

He arrived from Tottenham with ‘great expectations’ but so far hasn’t trained because because of the physical condition he arrived in.

This week has seen something of a change, though, with it explained the Tottenham man ‘worked overtime’ at the club’s training complex alongside a fitness coach.

He was the only Sampdoria player present during the rest days afforded to them during this international break and as a result his condition has ‘improved considerably’.

The goal for him is to now be in the squad for the clash with Monza this weekend and hopefully put this misery, which he’s endured since his arrival from Tottenham in the summer, behind him.
