Tottenham Hotspur ‘regularly enquire’ about Borussia Monchengladbach star Jonas Hofmann, who is likely to leave the German club this summer.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the 29-year-old has clubs interested in him as he resists new contract offers from the Bundesliga side.
They explain that the 29-year-old is ‘about to make’ a decision regarding his future as his contract is set to expire in 2023.
Gladbach chief Rolan Virkus is trying to convince the attacking midfielder, who has ten goals and five assists in 26 games in all competitions this season, to sign a new deal, but he is struggling to do so.
That’s because Hofmann believes the club can only offer him ‘mediocrity’ and wants to make a step up.
Atlético Madrid are one of the sides keen on him, alongside Tottenham, who ‘regularly enquire’ about his situation.
They’re yet to make a formal bid, and SportBILD say that if a ‘concrete offer’ were to be made, then the German international ‘will probably not be kept’.
There’s no mention of a price, but that will likely be reduced anyway, given the player’s contract situation, which puts Gladbach in an awkward position in terms of selling.
It’s not the first time Tottenham have been mentioned as suitors, with a report in May last year stating they had been following him for a while.
That was followed by a claim the following month that they’d ‘signalled their interest’ in the player, and then back in April, it was claimed Tottenham were showing ‘renewed interest’ in him once more.
Thus, he’s clearly a player on Fabio Paratici’s list and a name to keep a close eye on in the coming months, with more claims seeming likely.
