The Italian media insist Juventus interest in signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains, but the Tottenham Hotspur stance on the situation seems to have changed repeatedly – at least from a Juve perspective, over the past week or so.
Firstly, Hojbjerg getting some minutes was seen as a negative, with the chance that Ange Postecoglou would then block his exit in the winter market.
Then it was claimed Tottenham would be open to deal in January but wanted it to be on the basis of a loan with a purchase obligation, so essentially a permanent transfer with completion deferred until the summer.
The reasoning here would be allowing Spurs to bring in another player to take the place of the Dane in their squad.
Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport states that whilst Hojbjerg remains on the Juventus agenda, Tottenham are now dithering with their stance.
They’re ‘not yet sure’ whether they want to ‘deprive’ themselves of the player in January, or keep him in the squad until at least the end of the season.
What happens with their difficult run in the next few weeks could be key.
