Tottenham Hotspur had another poor night at Wembley on Wednesday. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has rightly said Spurs’ players can’t use the national stadium as an excuse, and even German newspaper Bild gave them a raft of poor ratings.

Only Eric Dier came out of it well for Bild on the Tottenham side, but for Bayer Leverkusen the goalscoring hero Kevin Kampl got the best rating available. Unfortunately for Kampl he came off towards the end of the Tottenham match injured and doesn’t know how bad it is.

Bild quote the Champions League hero as saying: “It feels bad. I hope it is nothing serious… The bone got something.”

Kampl is also quoted as explaining that Tottenham playing at Wembley was a big boost to him, and that it was like stepping out at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium.

If the Wembley pressure is weighing on Mauricio Pochettino’s men, then it seems it’s doing the opposite for some of Tottenham’s opponents, and actually providing added inspiration ahead of matches.
