Tottenham Hotspur were credited with an interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié in the summer transfer window.

Back in July, reports coming out of Italy stated that Spurs have joined AC Milan in chasing the defender. This surfaced before Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes revealed there are “many clubs interested” in the 20-year-old.

The Ecuador international didn’t end up leaving the Bundesliga side and continues to be in the sights of clubs across Europe. The list includes Tottenham and Serie A sides.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who state Milan, Napoli and AS Roma have watched the centre-back on a few occasions. The player is also popular in the Premier League and that’s when Spurs are tagged.

It’s claimed Antonio Conte’s side look at Hincapié with ‘some interest’. His contract expires in 2026 and the German club are in talks with the South American’s agent to renew the deal.

Leverkusen are a club ‘that has never had too many problems when faced with the idea of giving up’ their players. After stating that, Calciomercato.it add the Bundesliga side are in no rush to cut ties with Hincapié, whose valuation ‘fluctuates around €25m’.

It needs to be seen whether Tottenham will convert ‘some interest’ in Hincapié into an offer.
