Even though Tottenham Hotspur continue to be considered strong contenders for the signing of Weston McKennie from Juventus, they should probably be aware of the heavy competition that has been showing up.

Italian outlet Corriere di Torino (via Tutto Juve) today writes that Borussia Dortmund are now ‘in pole position’ for the midfielder, who’s edging to the exit door at the Old Lady.

Tottenham, however, are still said to ‘lead the platoon of suitors’ in the Premier League, and should not be ruled out of that race.

As outlet Tutto Juve 24 covers the same story, they also point out Borussia Dortmund’s strength in the battle, and brings the reason why Spurs are being left behind.

It’s claimed Tottenham are a destination which ‘attracts the boy’, but ‘risks slipping away’ due to the presence of club chief Fabio Paratici, who’s been in bad terms with Juventus lately, due to the controversies around the club’s deals in his time in charge.

The story says the Old Lady value McKennie at around €20m, and it seems clear it won’t take long until someone pays that reasonable fee, whether it be Spurs or their Bundesliga counterparts.
