At this point, few Chelsea fans would be sad to see Hakim Ziyech leave Stamford Bridge, regardless of how well he is playing for Morocco at the World Cup.

The forward has been one of the reasons why the African national team have gone so far in the tournament in Qatar, and this has attracted interest in him.

Milan are allegedly closing in on a deal, but there is one man who believes the right move for Chelsea’s Ziyech would be to switch to Manchester United.

That is Mustafa El Haddaoui, who is a former midfielder who played for the likes of AS Saint-Etienne and OGC Nice in France, as well as picking up 47 caps for Morocco.

Speaking to Stats Perform, the 61-year-old was speaking about his country’s star, and urged him to make the switch to Manchester United.

He said, in the video embedded on Corriere dello Sport: “Now we’re seeing his potential, we can see what he’s capable of, but now he has a lot of offer. He needs to leave Chelsea and go to Manchester United, because the former Ajax manager wanted him. He will bounce back, but now he needs to leave during the winter transfer market.”

El Haddaoui is, of course, alluding to Erik ten Hag, who left Ajax in the summer to take over at Manchester United, where he is trying to steady the ship and send it back on its old successful course.

That is taking a bit of time, and whether he needs someone like Ziyech after getting the Red Devils to spend around €100m on Antony remains to be seen, but there’s no denying that he did manage to get the best out of the now Chelsea player in the Eredivisie.
