Matt O’Riley has starred for Celtic this season and this has led to claims that a few clubs are interested in taking him away from Brendan Rodgers’ side in the summer window.
The midfielder has been vital under Rodgers this season, scoring 14 goals and registering 16 assists from 44 games for Celtic.
Earlier this week, A Spor explained that Fenerbahçe have identified the Celtic star as a surprise target.
This is now backed up by Fotomaç, who add the Turkish club are ‘very serious’ about signing the 23-year-old.
O’Riley’s name was suggested to the Fenerbahçe management by their scouting team, who have been following him in action for Celtic for a while. The club has now ‘decided to take action’ to sign the Denmark international in the next window.
To do this, it’s explained that the Yellow Canaries’ transfer committee ‘will soon sit down’ with Celtic to discuss a possible deal. Fotomaç add the Istanbul club will offer €10m for O’Riley, who has a deal at Celtic Park lasting until 2027.
Back in February, Tipsbladet reported Celtic could demand in excess of £25m for their star in the summer, after rejecting Atlético Madrid’s loan offer with a £18m buying option in January.
Therefore, the €10m seems fanciful.
