Last month, Calciomercato.it said Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.

Operating mainly as an attacking midfielder and at times on the wings, he has scored five goals and registered five assists from 15 games this season.

His deal lasts until 2025 and Tutto Juve mention Tottenham’s interest when discussing the 26-year-old’s contract situation.

The Old Lady’s intention is to extend his deal at least until 2026 and the two parties have agreed to meet within two to three months to further discuss this topic. The ‘solution’ is to renew the contract by offering the same salary with performance related bonus.

Behind the scenes, Tottenham and other foreign clubs have ‘began to move heavily’ to sign the Italy international. If he were to impress for his national team at the Euros next summer, the report states ‘very important offers’ of around €80m would arrive for him.

In that case, both Juventus and the former Fiorentina man would evaluate things and then make a decision on his future.

Tutto Juve claim there are ‘some doubts’ over Chiesa’s fitness but the Italian club continue to bet on him. Therefore, they could ‘say no’ if they were to receive an ‘indispensable’ offer.

‘There is a risk’, likely of losing Chiesa and if he were to leave, so Massimiliano Allegri’s side seem to have identified a few candidates to replace him. The focus, for now, is to renew his contract.

Tottenham ‘begin to move’ for the Italian and it’s quite possible Spurs and others seem to have dragged into the mix to put pressure on Juve, to get a better deal for the player.
