Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi has found himself caught in a transfer prank months after his failed move to Leicester City.
That’s according to L’Interista, who cover the midfielder today and how he thought he had recently accepted a move to Saudi Arabia, which turned out to be a fake.
They explain that the Inter midfielder has found himself caught out by television show Le lene, which regularly pranks various people, and it seems now footballers.
Their latest stunt saw them contacting 50 Serie A footballers pretending to be agents interested in taking them to Saudi Arabia.
They offered deals worth around €30m per year and 88% of the players contacted agreed, albeit without putting their face to the deal or agreeing it could be made public.
One of those who did was Sensi, who insisted he would first speak to his agent about the proposal before deciding to do anything. When the truth was revealed, he appeared to take a considered approach, admitting “it’s clear that when you’re faced with those choices anyway, at the end of the day, for those who go it’s all about the money.”
While a transfer to Saudi may not be on the cards, it remains to be seen if the midfielder does end up elsewhere, namely Leicester.
They seemed to be on the verge of securing his signature in January but ultimately couldn’t get a deal over the line.
With promotion now secured Enzo Maresca and his side need signings and the fact he’s available on a free transfer should be very appealing given their financial situation.
They probably can’t offer the same sums that were being offered by Le lene, of course, but after being left red faced, perhaps Sensi won’t be focused that much on money anyway.
