Leeds United’s apparent interest in Michy Batshuayi appears to have caused panic in the Turkish press, who say Fenerbahçe’s plans have been ‘destroyed’.

Aksam take the over top approach to the news today and stir up the panic after Leeds were linked with a move for the Belgian over the past month.

A report last month indicated those in charge at Elland Road were eyeing up Batshuayi should they secure promotion back to the Premier League, with that then followed by another claim that Fenerbahçe were working to stop him heading to Elland Road.

Aksam now label Leeds as a ‘surprise suitor’ for the striker, who has been a star player for the Turkish side this season.

A potential move for the forward, who is set to be available on a free transfer, has sparked worries that he’ll be on the way.

They say he is ‘approaching a critical decision’ about his future, with Fenerbahçe set to sit down and discuss terms with his manager in the hope of keeping him long-term, despite having an option to extend him by another year.

It seems the growing belief is that he will be on his way and Leeds’ apparent interest has ‘destroyed’ the plans that had been laid out by the Super Lig team.

It’s all a little over the top, to be frank, given nothing is actually happening and Fenerbahçe still have that option in place anyway.

And given it all depends on Leeds being promoted and escaping the three-way battle for automatic spots with Ipswich and Leicester, there’s plenty of time for things to develop before a decision has to be made too.

Thus, Aksam seem to be hitting the panic button a little early, even if it is a situation to keep an eye on moving forwards.
