Boubakary Soumaré is increasingly likely to return to Leicester City from a loan spell at Sevilla this summer, with three factors currently stopping a permanent deal.

That’s according to Mucho Deporte, who cover the midfielder today and how Sevilla want to keep him, but face obstacles in their attempt to do so.

They explain that Soumaré has convinced the club with his performances this season and the Nervión club would be willing to make an effort to get him on a permanent basis in the summer.

There is a discrepancy between that desire and reality, though, with a permanent move seen as ‘very complex’ for Sevilla to get done at this moment in time.

The first issue is the value of his purchase clause, which is currently set at €15m, a figure Sevilla simply cannot reach.

They’ve completely ruled out significant spending on transfers and the financial situation at the club means everything will now be done from a ‘more modest’ economic standpoint.

Indeed, they need to reduce all amortisations at the club by 60% and cannot afford to add before they sell.

Then there is Leicester, who look destined to return to the Premier League from the Championship. Soumaré had left because he refused to play in the second tier but perhaps a return to the Premier League could ‘seduce’ him to return.

The third point is that Leicester face the threat of penalties for financial fair play breaches, which may force them to sell players and focus on what they already have.

In this scenario there is a feeling they may turn to Soumaré, thus blocking a permanent move to Sevilla in the process despite the midfielder being ‘very comfortable’ in Spain.

It’s all ifs and buts at this point but the worry is there for Sevilla, who know they will start negotiations ‘from a weak position’ despite their intention to sign Soumaré on a permanent basis as he continues to impress on loan.
